On Film was born in a small town in the summer of 2005. Starting out as a solo project for Michael MacLellan, he soon realized something was missing and recruited his friend Josh Gaudrault on bass. This line-up of On Film lasted for about a year until December 2006 when they welcomed Dave Karrel on guitar and mandolin.
On Film create folky music with pop tendencies creating enjoyable, catchy music bound to be stuck in your head for a few days. With influences ranging from Woody Guthrie to Pearl Jam to Tilly & The Wall, On film try to incorporate all of their influences into a cohesive sound that everyone can sing along to.
“For me, I feel that the songs can be sung around a campfire or doorstep, they would always suit the mood in that environment. They make catchy acoustic pop music that sounds folky. The songs feel natural.”
-Adam Ledrew (Corner Organs: Off, Flood Almanac)
“Just the thing to listen to when you wake up in the morning and want to start your day right, On film has the combination of catchy pop songs mixed with heart-felt lyrics that you can sing along to.”
-Anthony Geddes (The Grace Period, Karma)
"Fun, folky, pop songs with clap along verses and sing/shout along choruses. On Film's songs are earnest and heartfelt and crafted with an almost child-like playfulness. This band continues to improve every time I see them play."
-Marcus Fiddes (Naysayers, Ice Pirates)
